I was born in Soviet-occupied Estonia and grew up in Toronto, Ontario, where I attended a high school for the arts and had my first exposure to the camera. I consider myself rich in cultural experience. But it wasn’t until I moved to British Columbia in 1991, and discovered the beauty and power of the physical world around me, that I truly felt at home.
I moved here to explore my passion for skiing, snowboarding and bike riding, and over the years I’ve learned to appreciate these activities in a manner that is more profound than I ever anticipated. I thrive on adventure and love to push my limits — mentally, physically and spiritually — even if it means living differently, or challenging conventional norms. I feel I’m blessed to have found a sense of inner peace that many spend a lifetime seeking.
My work in photography is an extension of who I am — a natural evolution of my personality, my cultural and artistic background, and my need for adventure and self-discovery. The camera has allowed me to connect my experiences with others, to share glimpses of the vast and awe-inspiring world in which I live, and to stimulate the minds and hearts of the people around me.
